Jada
At North Carolina A&T, the cost of attendance for an out-of-state student is over $34,000. Jada Foote, a Sophomore at A&T, has allocated over $600,000 in scholarships to cover her college career and has started Scholar World, a business that helps students win scholarships.
Jada’s scholarship journey began in her junior year of high school, where she went through a program named “The College Planning Cohort”. In this program, she learned how to use her skills & talents and how to identify & compete for compatible scholarships.
“I tirelessly practiced writing exceptional essays for my common app and scholarship essays…”, Jada explained, “…After working so much and identifying how to write in a way that best answers scholarship prompts while aligning it with my story, skills, talent, sports, and leadership, I began to start winning.”
After successfully navigating the long scholarship process, Jada, a Cobb County, Georgia native, recognized that her peers in her community needed help with allocating scholarships as well. Using her newly found skills and prior passions to own her own business, Jada went on to start Scholar World, where she offers goods and services to help students through the college planning process.
While Jada is dedicated to Scholar World, she does have other responsibilities and priorities that she is finding a healthy balance between. When asked what are some of her biggest difficulties in juggling school and business, Jada explained:
“Getting students to understand that I am a full-time student as well with 16-18 credits, extracurricular activities, and classes to pass. I overcome this challenge by meeting my students that I work with virtually or in-person and reminding them that we are indeed the same ages and that I have a college life too,” Jada added, “…they seem to understand that especially when I remind them of my age.”
I personally came to know of Scholar World while in search of scholarships. I am a direct beneficiary of Jada’s work, as I won a $500 cash scholarship from her business this past Spring semester.
